Vorupør Cogeneration Plant

Vorupør Cogeneration Plant is one of the 50 pre-district-heating-community plants allowed to establish a 1 MW biomass boiler for the production of district heating, as a result of an amendment of the Heat Supply Act.

PlanEnergi has been involved in the establishment of the biomass boiler from start to finish, from the initial economic as well as technical assessments to the regulatory procedures and tender, to plant owner consultancy and supervision regarding the establishment of the project.

The plant has been completed in a turnkey contract, where Vestkystens VVS Aps has been the turnkey contractor and Passat Energy A/S has been in charge of supplying and installing the boiler plant.

As a consequence of the project and in addition to a greener profile Vorupør Cogeneration Plant, has decreased the price of heating for their customers by 25 % for the year 2016. The price of heating is expected to decrease further in the future.

The straw boiler has a power input of 1 MW and a heat efficiency of approx. 92%. The plant is fully automatic and the straw bales are provided by a fully automatic overhead crane.
