Fjernvarme i Ogata, Japan

The cooperation has been going on since 2014 and to strengthen the work ISEP and PlanEnergi in 2021 formed a common company in Japan called Plan Community Energy (PCE).

The effort is coordinated with the Danish Embassy in Tokyo and introduces Danish technologies to the Japanese market through a combination of project developments in Japan and arranging technology visit tours for Japanese stakeholders to Danish renewable energy plants and suppliers of technology.

One project deals with establishing district heating in the village of Ogata-Mura in Northwestern Japan. Ogata-Mura is a small municipality (of about 3,000 inhabitants), but includes also a large hotel and spa resort. The district heating system is part of Ogata-Mura’s plans to become self-sufficient in energy, keep its residents, etc.

The district heating will be based on husks and straw, which are residues from local rice production. After almost 9 years of project development, the district heating network is now in the installation phase and the system will be in operation summer 2024. Development and extension of the system will be going on for the next 5 -10 years.

PCE is involved in a number of new projects in the business of renewable energy, utilization of different biomass residues and district heating supply.
